PE and Sport Premium

We are incredibly proud of the PE and School Sport offer here at Gladstone Primary Academy. We utilise the sports premium funding to ensure high quality PE lessons are accessible for all children and offer many CPD opportunities for staff. There are plenty of chances to compete in intra house competitions, inter house competitions as well as competing at a trust, district and city level. This year so far, 299 pupils have accessed an after school club, 45 of those pupils were SEND and 101 were Pupil Premium pupils - many of these were sports clubs funded by the sports premium funding.

Please read the information below which gives details of our PE and Sport Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.

Swimming Report

ENSURING ALL CHILDREN MEET THE NATIONAL CURRICULUM REQUIREMENTS

The Goal: By the end of Key Stage 2 every child has met the minimum standard of water safety knowledge and swimming ability as stated in the national curriculum for physical education programme of study.

The Challenge: Statutory guidance for the national curriculum for physical education programme of study in England states that:

All schools must provide swimming instruction either in key stage 1 or key stage 2. In particular, pupils should be taught to:

1. swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres;

2. use a range of strokes effectively;

3. perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.

(Information taken from Swim England website)

2023-2024 We had 39 pupils who met the end of KS2 swimming expectations.

2024-2025 We will update this once we have the data
