WHAT KINDS OF SEND DOES THE SCHOOL PROVIDE FOR?
Gladstone Primary Academy is now a Mainstream Academy. We do support children with a wide range of needs as in accordance with the SEND Equality Act 2010. The main areas of need which we support are in line with the SEND Code of Practice 2014.
Quality first teaching is vital; however, for some children there are occasions when further additional support may be needed to help them achieve their learning goals. We know that some children will have needs in more than one of these areas and we will always do our very best to meet these needs. The things we do may vary and actual support will be based on the specific needs of each child.
Special Educational Needs provided for are described in four broad areas;
– Communication and Interaction; Speech, Language and Communication Need, Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
– Cognition and Learning; Moderate Learning Difficulty, Specific Learning Difficulty, including dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Dyslexia, Dyscalculia
– Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties; Adjustment Disorder, Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Attachment Disorder
– Sensory and Physical Needs; Hearing Impairment, Visual Impairment, Physical Disability
