Music
At Gladstone Primary Academy, music is at the heart of our school community. We believe in the power of music to inspire, connect, and enrich the lives of our pupils. To support this vision, we use the Charanga scheme of work across all year groups. Charanga provides a high-quality, engaging, and progressive music curriculum that nurtures creativity, builds confidence, and develops musical skills. Through singing, playing instruments, composing, and listening, our children experience the joy of music in a fun and inclusive environment.
Recorder Festival March 2025
Every year our very talented recorder club take part in a Recorder Festival at the Victoria Hall. This year over 700 children took part on Wednesday 19th March from across Stoke on Trent and Staffordshire. Well done

Key Strings
Each year we invite in a wonderful music duo called ‘Key Strings’ to preform a range of music pieces on string instruments. They are always a ‘hit’ with the children.
Peripatetic Music lessons
Gladstone had strong links with the City Music School and have peripatetic teachers who come into school weekly to deliver, brass, string, percussion and woodwind instrumental lessons to children across lower and upper Key Stage 2 free of charge.
Prize Day
At the end of every year at Gladstone, we celebrate all the children’s success both academically, sporting and musically. Are part of this all of out musicians play from the school and invited parents.
Penkhull Festival
Each year we attend the Penkhull Music Festival where we watch a concert given by pupil at Newcastle Under Lyme High School. The children then take part in a singing workshop.
