Enrichment Opportunities
Our curriculum is carefully designed to incorporate a wide range of enrichment opportunities that support and deepen pupils’ learning while bringing it to life through meaningful experiences. These opportunities help to embed knowledge and skills, enabling children to make stronger connections across their learning. Through a varied programme including social, moral and cultural experiences, as well as physical activity, the arts, music, performance and leadership roles, pupils are given the chance to develop confidence, character and a broader understanding of the world around them.
Year 2 visited Cresswell Craggs
🌿🏞️ We’ve had a fantastic time at Creswell Craggs today! The children have enjoyed exploring the museum 🦴🏛️, taking part in some artwork 🎨, building their own shelters 🛖, and learning about how fires were made in prehistoric times 🔥🪵
Year 3 visited Llandudno - what a wonderful day!
What a wonderful day out at Llandudno and the children were absolute superstars; both on the coach and all day in Llandudno. They really were a credit to yourselves and the school. We enjoyed a lovely early lunch in Happy Valley and explored parts of the Alice in Wonderland trail, where the children also enjoyed a play. The Punch and Judy show went down a real treat and then the children adored playing on the beach. After that, we relished an ice-cream, despite the brazen gulls trying to steal these away from us. Finally, we stretched our legs on the pier and bought souvenirs from one of the little gift shops, before hopping back on to the coach to head back to Stoke on Trent. What a wonderful day linked to our topic!
Sports Week 2026
Gladstone Play Cricket At LORDS!
We were absolutely delighted to be offered an opportunity of a lifetime for some of our pupils to travel to Lord’s, the home of English cricket. Chance to Shine, in partnership with the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), invited schools to take part in a specially themed ‘Schools Cricket World Cup’ as part of the celebrations of England hosting the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup. What an incredible opportunity for our children to experience such a prestigious venue and event.
A huge thank you must go to the staff who generously give up so much of their own time to facilitate these opportunities, and to the children who continue to represent the school fantastically well. We hope these experiences and memories will last a lifetime.
Y6 Rainforest Day
Rain-forest Day was a hoot! The Year 6 children have enjoyed the workshop with Jo from 'Rent-a-Beast'. They also enjoyed their senses experience, where they got to food taste and smell produce which originate from the rain forest. during the afternoon, the children continued their learning and learnt about the layers of a rain-forest.
World Cultural Day
The whole school came together today to celebrate 'World Cultural Day' where children learnt about the richness of the world’s cultures and the importance of intercultural dialogue for peace and development.

The visitors complimented the classes with their knowledge, manners and sensible questions. Proud teachers!

Cricket
We have been so lucky to welcome Anna (a county cricket coach) into our school to teach our Year 1 and Year 4 children and provide CPD for staff too. She has also ran a 'Chance to Shine' cricket club after school. The children have thoroughly enjoyed the lessons and many have now become part of the various school cricket teams ready for the summer competitions.
Reception Visit Trentham Monkey Forest
Despite having lots of different weather, Reception had a great day at the Monkey Forest today! The children saw Barbery Macaques and learnt how you can tell the difference between the male and female monkeys! 🐒🐒🐒
Walk to school with the Easter bunny and Chick
On the last day of term before the Easter break, we had a wonderful start to the day with a special Easter walk to school, joined by the Easter bunny and chick. It was fantastic to see so many parents and carers come along and take part in the event—thank you for your support.
The children truly embraced the occasion, arriving in a fantastic array of creative Easter bonnets and proudly showcasing their beautifully designed Easter eggs.
It was a joyful and memorable way to begin the last day of term, creating special moments for both children and families to enjoy together. There was a real buzz around the place.
Shakespeare Y5 Performance at the New Vic Theatre
We also pride ourselves on our community links and try to provide lots of chances to share our wonderful school with members of the wider Gladstone family.
Young Voices 2026
Our Young Voices Choir (Y4-6) travelled to the Co-op Live Arena for their 2026 concert, and what a wonderful experience it was. The children behaved impeccably throughout the day and represented our school superbly well. After a rehearsal with the other choir members—around 7,800 children from across the country—they performed in a spectacular concert watched by a huge audience which filled the arena.
They sang a range of songs, including a very popular Wicked medley, and filled the arena with music, dancing, laughter, and joy. Magical memories were made with friends, and it truly was an incredible experience. We hope everyone who came to watch enjoyed it as much as we loved performing. I wonder who will be part of our Young Voices Choir 2027?
Bloomin' Longton
Eco Club planting trees
Trees help people and nature thrive. Getting more in the ground will give us all a greener, healthier future. Our Eco Warriors, Grandad Mick and our site supervisor Mr Brannigan have been working hard to add 30 saplings to the grounds of Gladstone. Year 1 children watched the process as their topic this term is trees. We will eagerly wait and see how they grow.
Family Learning
We Will Remember Them
On 11th November, our school community came together to commemorate Remembrance Day and to reflect on the importance of remembering those who have served and sacrificed for others.
Across the week, pupils have been learning about the significance of the poppy and the values of respect, peace, and gratitude that underpin this important day. Children took part in activities and created displays that share their reflections and understanding of Remembrance.
At 11 a.m. today, we gathered together for our two minutes of silence, led beautifully by Mr Pearson, who played The Last Post. This was a powerful and moving moment, giving pupils the chance to show their respect and think deeply about the meaning of remembrance.
We’ve put together a short video showcasing some of the children’s work, our displays, and the moment of silence.
